Summary
Hereditarily deaf, but had 6 normal, healthy hearing children. In spite of this, in 1939, Nazi government officials determined that Sommer was "hereditarily diseased" and ordered him sterilized. He resisted through judicial appeals, but he lost and was forcibly sterilized.
