Summary
The 10-year-old deaf son of Edward Popham was one of the earliest British deaf persons to be taught to speak, by William Holder (q.v.). Later, his education was taken over by John Wallis (q.v.), who had already been teaching Daniel Whalley (q.v.). He married Brilliana Harley (hearing?) in 1679. Apparently never had a job, being supported by his family's money.
