Deafened at age 2 from high fever. Took formal dancing lessons beginning at age 15. Performed with the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe; also performed at the Deaf Way II international festival in 2002. In 2003, was nominated for the national Chinese television network CCTV's "People That Have Inspired China" award.
