Summary
Born deaf as Lucille Zimmer at Shoal Lake, MB and attended the Saskatchewan School for the Deaf 1941-1954. Worked as a microfilmer, then a filing clerk before marrying Milfred Dietrich in 1957. Several years later she returned to the workforce as a clerk in local and national government while also taking evening classes towards a high school equivalency diploma plus courses in child care services. 1980-1986, trained and worked in various capacities at the Manitoba School for the Deaf. Divorced Dietrich in 1987 and remarried to Forrest Curwin Nickerson (q.v.), but lost him only one year later when he died of cancer. She continued working at the Manitoba School as a residential counselor until her retirement.
