Summary
Was a late-deafened friend of the famous Greek-Spanish artist El Greco. Corvarrubias studied law at the University of Salamanca and became a noted jurist, antiquarian, philosopher, poet, humanist and Hellenist. He was ordained in 1581 and made a canon of Toledo Cathedral. He became very deaf in late life. He had a portrait painted by El Greco; this portrait is now in the Louvre.
