Born deaf; graduated the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf, 1972-1986, and graduated the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN (B.A., 1994). Began working as an assistant pastor to a Pentecostal church for the deaf in Milton, ON. While Zell was riding on a cross-country bus in Canada, the driver was attacked by another passenger and lost control. Zell separated the two, allowing the driver to regain control of the bus and saving many lives.
