Summary
Also known as John the Deaf [II], John Quidort, Jean le Sourd, Johannes de Soardis, Surdus, or Monoculus. Born in Paris; was a Dominican monk known for his work in philosophy, theology, and political theory. Earned his master's degree when over 50 years of age. While almost nothing is known about his personal life, the names "Surdus/le Sourd/de Soardis" (The Deaf) and "Monoculus" (One-eyed) suggest the possibility that he was deafened and blinded in one eye by disease or an accident..
