Summary
Graduate of Gallaudet College in 1979 and earned Ph.D in 1995. First Black deaf person to serve as a superintendent of a state school for the deaf (the Minnesota School for the Deaf; his title was actually Director, but equivalent to Superintendent). Associate VP for Student Affairs and Director for Outreach Services at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf before becoming Dean for Continuing Education at Gallaudet University, 1997-2000. Became Director at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf in 2001, then director of the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf in 2006.
