Summary
Born at Waialua, HI to Spanish immigrants; deafened at age 6 from spinal meninigitis. Attended the California School for the Deaf beginning 1926, then entered Gallaudet College in 1938. Printing instructor at the Kansas and Minnesota Schools for the deaf before returning to the California School to teach printing there, 1949 until retirement in 1981. Was effective in testimony and lobbying before members of the California state legislature in support of the California School.
