Summary
Born at Laeken, Belgium. Full name, Phlippe Eugene Ferdinand Marie Clement Baudoin Leopold Georges of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Prince of Belgium, Count of Flanders and Duke of Saxony. First name also spelled "Philip". Reportedly-deaf father of hearing King Albert I of Belgium, though his deafness has not been confirmed. He was immediate heir to the Belgian throne after Leopold II, but died in Brussels 4 years before Leopold did, and the throne instead passed to Philippe's son Albert I. This is perhaps the closest we have come to having a deaf monarch of a European country.
