Born deaf at St. John, NB. Private nursery school 1954-1956, Boston School for the Deaf 1956-1957, Rothesay [NB] Elementary School 1957-1962 (with the help of a private tutor), Interprovinical School for the Deaf 1962-1964, Rothesay Jr. High School 1964-1966 also with a tutor, then a grade 10 correspondence course with full-time tutor, finally grade 11 tutoring plus a physics course at a parochial high school. Entered Gallaudet College 1968-graduation 1974. Married Philip Taylor, also deaf, in 1973. Returning to New Brunswick, became an employment coordinator with a deaf social service agency, but quit in 1977 to accompany her husband to his Bible college studies in Missouri. Back in Canada in 1978, she took continuing education courses at Dalhousie University, completing a second bachelor's degree in social work in 1981. Job placement counselor and vocational rehabilitation counselor for several agencies, then became a registered social worker in 1990.
