Born deaf at Swan River, MB. Lutheran School for the Deaf (Detroit, MI) for 7 years, the private Balmoral Hall School for Girls for 3 years, completed high school at the Manitoba School for the Deaf. Graduated Gallaudet College in 1984 with a bachelor's in art. Studied 2 years at the Ontario College of Art and Design, then began a career as an artist and fashion illustrator, selling illustrations to several fashion magazines and major newspapers, working out of her own studio.
