Summary
Born at Verona, NY; deafened from "brain fever" at age 6. Entered the New York Institution for the Deaf and Dumb in 1863, graduating 1870. Appointed teacher there 1870-1882, then taught at the Central New York Institution at Rome, NY from 1882 on. Married Annie Wagner in 1897, herself a teacher at the New York Institution.
