Eddy, Jonathan Holbrook

Deafened at age 7 from "congestion of the brain" and left school at that time, not returning until he entered the New York School for the deaf (Fanwood) at age 17 in 1870. Graduated in 5 years, then took higher courses to prepare for Gallaudet College, but instead went into teaching at the Central New York Institution for the deaf at Rome, 1878 onward. Married Hattie J. Roe in 1880.
