Summary
Born deaf at Edmunston, NB; first attended the John Tracy Clinic, then a year in a Sherbrooke, QC public school before moving to the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf. Dissatisfied with the Montreal School, she entered a mainstream program in North Hatley, QC and then graduated grades 11-12 in an Edmunston high school. Took and passed a lifeguard training program in 1988, working 3 summers at public and summer camp pools. Attended Gallaudet University 1991-1992, then St. Mary's University in Halifax, NS, where she graduated. Worked in various places as a residential counselor, deaf-blind intervenor, community resource worker and community development coordinator. In 2001, entered a social work degree program at Dalhousie University.
