Summary
Deaf at age 2 years and 9 months from an accident. Worked as an au pair, 1933-1934, in Belgium; after her return to Germany, the Nazi authorities began to persecute her for being deaf, pushing her to get a sterilization despite the lack of any hereditary deafness in her family and ignoring all documentation and medical evidence to that effect. She managed to escape sterilization by finding a loophole in the law that exempted deaf persons married to foreign citizens; she married a Czechoslovakian man and moved to that country.
