Summary
Born at Los Angeles; deaf at age 8 months from influenza. Tutored in a private preschool ages 3-6; entered a private school that taught both hearing and oral deaf children for 8 years, then went to a private boarding high school in Poughkeepsie, NY, graduating 1953. Attended Green Mountain College, a 2-year college for women, finishing in 1955. Worked in sales; married an oral deaf man in 1964; changed careers in 1972 to computer programming. Changed careers again in the late 1980s; returned to college for a BA, then earned a master's from Fordham University in 1991. Became a social worker at the Lexington School for the Deaf before retiring to California in 1995.
