Summary
Born in Milwaukee, WI, to the founder of the Master Lock Company. Deaf at age 4 from erysipelas; attended the Paul Binner public oral day school for the deaf in Milwaukee, then entered the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. After 1 year, transferred to and graduated from the Wright Oral School in New York City. Graduated Ripon College in 1936, and took further business-related courses at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel Technical College. Went to work for his father at the Master Lock plant, serving as secretary of the firm from 1940 till his death from heart failure. Was vice-president of the National Association of the Deaf, 1949 until his death from a heart attack. Married to Evelyn Cox in 1935.
