Born deaf at White River, Jamaica; adopted by a deaf Canadian mother, Tanis Maureen Doe (q.v.) at age 3 and brought to Canada at age 5. Attended St. Christopher's School for the Deaf in Jamaica for 2 years before entering the Alberta School for the Deaf until age 10, then the next 3 years at Jericho Hill School for the Deaf. 2 years at the California School for the Deaf, Fremont, then 2 years at the Burnaby South/Provincial School for the Deaf before completing her final year of high school mainstreamed in Belmont Public Secondary School, Victoria, BC. An accomplished student athlete, especially in track and field.
