Mungai, Jonna Chege

Born deaf at Gatundu, Kiambu District, Kenya. Attended Kambui Primary School for deaf children until 1976, then completed a carpentry course at the Industrial Rehabilitation Centre in Nairobi in 1978. Worked at various carpentry jobs for 4 years until his elder brother's sudden death necessitated his taking charge of his brother's family. He then started a small carpentry workshop, then with the help of a bank loan was able to expand the business and create employment for other people.
