Born and died at Montpellier; deafened by an accident at age 2 1/2. Student at the Paris Institution; paintings are in the Museums of Versailles and Montpellier. Noted for his historical paintings, including Last Moments of the Abbe de l'Epee. Surname also sometimes spelled "Peyson", with one "s".
