Summary
Entered the Halifax Institution for the deaf in 1913; had to commute by ship between her home in St. John's, Newfoundland, and the Halifax Institution. In 1918, she was aboard the S.S. Florizel when it struck rocks due to an error in navigation during a storm; she and a fellow deaf boy traveler, Clarence Bertram Moulton, both drowned in the disaster. Her body was found days later.
