Summary
Born deaf at Wawa, ON; attended a local Wawa school for a year before transferring to the Metropolitan School for the Deaf in Toronto, then to the Ontario School for the Deaf, which she graduated in 1977. Worked for a steel company and for the Ontario government as a data entry operator, eventually moving to the Canadian Hearing Society. Later, she taught ASL and Deaf Culture at St. Mary's University from 1990 onward, and in 1994 also established a home-based sign language consulting business. This grew to include involvement with production of deaf-related videos and CD-ROMs. Also took part-time university courses to work towards a bachelor's degree. Married to a hearing man who is also an ASL intepreter.
