Summary
His father, Francis Green, was British-born, and returned to Britain with his Boston-born deaf son during the American Revolution. Charles attended the Braidwood school for the deaf at Edinburgh, Scotland 1780-1786, then returned to America with his father (to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada); drowned in a hunting accident near Cole Harbor, N.S. His memory inspired his father to support establishing schools for the deaf in America, including influencing the establishment of the New York School for the Deaf; Francis Green also revealed the Braidwoods' secret methods of deaf education in his book Vox Oculis Subjecta.
