Summary
Born at Grenada, MS but grew up in Pennsylvania; partially Native American through her mother. Graduated the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in 1962; bachelor's (1975) and master's (1976) degrees from Gallaudet College; first Black deaf woman to enter the National Leadership Training Program for the Deaf at California State University, Northridge. Was also the first Black deaf female instructor at the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School for the Deaf, 1978-1986. Has appeared in several sign language-teaching videotapes.
