Summary
Born at Pawnee City, NE; attended the Kansas School for the Deaf, then the California School for the Deaf at Berkeley, where he was the second deaf boy in America to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Transferred to Patterson Union High School for 2 years, graduating there. Owned shoe repair shops in Patterson and then in Oakland, CA, for a total of 18 years. During World War II, became a machinist at the Lather Spring and Electric Car Company in Oakland, remaining there until retirement in 1967. Died of pneumonia at Alameda, CA.
