Summary
Born at Arendal; deafened and blinded in one eye at age 5 by scarlet fever. B.A. from the University of Christiana (Oslo); in 1874, became a clerk in the Department of the Interior and in 1879 in the National Audit Department; translator and author; on April 6, 1899, came to America to survey schools for the deaf for the Norwegian government.
