Summary
Hearing. In 1821, opened an experimental school in Bayreuth, Germany, in which manual communication was forbidden because of his belief that it and the students' isolation in residential schools were responsible for the lack of success in deaf education. Graser began a trend of integrating deaf German students into regular schools, later abandoned due to the academic difficulties they faced. Graser published a book, The Deaf-Mute Restored to Humanity by Visible and Spoken Speech.
