Summary
Deaf possibly from a fever following an appendix operation at 6 months. Went to the Ontario School for the Deaf, Belleville, 1933-1941. In 1943, began working in his father's fur shop as a furrier (sewing together fur garments). Moved to New York City in 1948 and worked in a variety of fur factories for some years. Married Harriet Berkowitz in 1952. Founded the Silent News monthly newspaper for the deaf in 1969 and published it for over 25 years, in partnership with his wife. Autobiography is No Sound (1970).
