Summary
Born in Paris; deafened at age 2; at age 9, entered the Institution National des Sourds-Muets in Paris, and remained there 9 years. Afterwards, studied at the National Institute for the Deaf, the School of Decorative Arts, and l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts. Exhibited at least once in the prestigious Paris Salon (1889); sculpted several major statues in Paris; won a competition to execute a statue of Paul Broca, and executed many other statues that won wide acclaim.
