Summary
Graduated the North Dakota School for the Deaf in 1962 and Gallaudet College in 1967. Has performed on stage and television, and with the National Theatre of the Deaf. First deaf person to win a Tony Award, 1980, for the female lead in the stage version of Children of a Lesser God; first deaf person to be elected to the Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild. Married Robert Steinberg, also deaf.
