Summary
Born at St. John's, Newfoundland. Deafness appears to have been progressive. Twice studied art in Europe, returning to Boston in 1895, where he won many commissions. His health began to fail in 1922, and he died in New York. Hearing brother Charles Prendergast was a respected painter in his own right, and seems to have sometimes served as an interpreter/agent for Maurice.
