Summary
Lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, with his best friend, Joseph Ronald Boyle (also deaf). For several months, he had suspected Boyle to have stolen some money from him. On the evening of November 10, 1978, the two went out drinking, then returned home for more drinking. Young accused Boyle again of the theft, and the two men fought, Young stabbing Boyle to death in a drunken stupor. When he realized what he had done, Young turned himself in to police. In court, he admitted guilt and requested life imprisonment, which the court gave him.
