Summary
Born at Hoijenson, Denmark, apparently deaf at birth; family emigrated to America when he was 9. Graduated the Nebraska School for the deaf in 1897; took business courses at an Omaha business college, but had to cut that short when his father died. After settling the estate, he dealt in butter, eggs, and poultry until he took a position as boys' supervisor at the Nebraska School.
