Summary
Deaf in childhood from scarlet fever. One of the very few Southern Jews to join the Confederate Army, joining up in Tennessee. After the war, he told stories in sign language of how his company always picked him to fire the cannon because he was deaf anyway and it didn't hurt his ears.
