Born deaf at Petrolia, ON and graduated the Ontario School for the Deaf, Belleville, 1953-1967. Gallaudet College B.A. in 1972. 2 1/2 years as a counselor in a center for the mentally disabled, then entered a teacher training program at Belleville and also earned a master's in education from Western Maryland College. Taught 4 years at Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf, then 20 years at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf before moving to the Metro Toronto School for the Deaf.
