Summary
Born at Geraldton, ON; deaf at age 2 from scarlet fever, though deafness was not diagnosed until later. At age 5, entered a parochial school in Nakima, but as the sole deaf pupil there she was essentially ignored. At age 8 she finally entered the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf, graduating in 1986. Attended Gallaudet College briefly before going to George Brown College. Discovered her deaf identity and became very active in deaf advocacy beginning in 2000.
