Bunker, Jesse Lafayette

Born deaf in North Carolina. One of the many children of Chang Bunker, who was one of the pair of original "Siamese Twins" and who had married a white American woman. Half-Asian, Jesse attended the North Carolina school for "colored" deaf persons at Raleigh. He acquired a farm in North Carolina and became a farmer; killed at age 48 when struck by lightning while out in one of his fields. His sister Louisa Emaline Bunker (q.v.) was also deaf.
