Summary
Deafened at age 13 by brain fever; graduated the New York School for the deaf; married Dr. Isaac Lewis Peet in 1854. Was a teacher in the New York School and leader in New York society; after her husband's 1898 death, lived with her daughter Elizabeth Peet (q.v.) in Washington, DC. A book of her poetry is titled simply Verses.
