Born deaf into a Chinese-Canadian family at Vancouver, BC; Sunny Hill Oral Pre-School Program at age 3, leaving in 1966, then 6 different elementary schools and dual education at the Kitsilano Secondary School and the Jericho Hill School for the Deaf, graduating 1979. BA from Gallaudet College (1984) and MA from Hampton University in VA (1988), plus qualification courses to obtain an Ontario teacher's certificate (1999). Worked at a variety of school positions before settling down as teacher at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf. Deaf spouse was Anthony William Cooke.
