Summary
Born in Peking (Beijing), China; deafened by illness shortly after birth. Attended Archmere Academy (Delaware) and Canterbury Preparatory School (Connecticut); B.A. in chemistry from Princeton University, 1946, M.S. in biology, 1948, and Ph.D. in animal biology, 1952, from Catholic University. After various positions, became Director of Microsurgery Training Program, New York University School of Medicine. Known for his work in tissue and organ transplantation. Retired in 1990; died from prostate cancer at Bloomfield, NJ.
