Summary
Born hearing as Margo Kathleen Mullis; deaf at age 3 from measles, but deafness not discovered until age 6. Around age 8, she was orphaned and sent to be raised by her uncle and aunt. Failing in the public schools, she transferred to the Oklahoma School for the Deaf at age 12, graduating 1974. Worked at the school 2 years, then left to teach sign language for 9 years. Returned to the Oklahoma School after 10 years as a dorm supervisor. Married for the second time to a deaf man, Jerry W. Stroyick. A cousin of hers is Jack R. Gannon (q.v.).
