Cerf, Sigrid Thorstenberg

Grew up in Wichita, KS; deaf at age 3 from meningitis, though her family never really admitted her deafness, sending her through public schools. She attended Agnes Scott College [GA] and the Art Institute of Chicago before graduating Kansas State University in 1966. Met her future husband Vinton G. Cerf (q.v.) at a hearing aid shop; they married in 1966. Retired from interior design in 1974 to concentrate on raising a family. Chose to receive a cochlear implant in 1996.
