Summary
Graduated the Utah School for the Deaf; began boxing in his native Utah before entering Gallaudet College, winning a 1936 Utah Golden Gloves championship. Continued to win other boxing championships, including the D.C. Golden Gloves, before and during his Gallaudet days; fought in over 500 bouts; considered turning pro, but instead elected to hang up his gloves in favor of becoming a teacher at the Indiana School for the Deaf upon graduation from college. Elected to the Gallaudet Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.
