Summary
Born deaf from genetic causes in Brooklyn, NY. Educated at New York City's P.S. 47 and graduated Canarsie High School. Gallaudet College B.A., 1976 and an M.Ed. from Western Maryland College. Residential counselor for the deaf at Trenton, NJ, then came to Canada to teach at the Mackay School for the Deaf. Transferred to and taught at the E.C. Drury School for the Deaf, and finally was involved in research on bilingual-bicultural education for the deaf, completing the work before her death from cancer. It was published as Seize the Moment: A Pilot Case Study of a Toddler's Natural ASL. Was married to Macklin Youngs.
