Summary
Born deaf at Washington, DC; attended the Clarke School for the Deaf until grade 9, then graduated a regular public high school; studied architecture in a hearing college. Traveled throughout Europe in 1971 to study house design there. Eventually worked for the U.S. National Park Service, involved in restoration of historical buildings and structures. His older brother, Michael A. Fields (q.v.), is also a deaf architect.
