Attended state schools for the deaf in Washington, Idaho, and Iowa before graduating the Arizona School for the Deaf in 1963; graduated Gallaudet College in 1968. Active in acting while at Gallaudet and after, in local deaf theater and with the National Theatre of the Deaf. Master's degree from New York University; teacher at schools for the deaf in New York, South Carolina, Texas, New Jersey, and the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School for the Deaf. Co-author of Deaf Women: A Parade through the Decades and of Step Into the Circle. Activist, especially for the cause of deaf Native Americans. Married Henning C. F. Irgens (q.v.) Died suddenly in Farmington, NM.
