Deafened at age 8 by spinal meningitis; graduated the Minnesota School for the deaf; B.A. (1895) from Gallaudet College. Head of his own investment and realty firm in Duluth, Minnesota; one-time state vocational rehabilitation officer for Michigan. President of the Minnesota Association of the Deaf, the Michigan Association of the Deaf, the National Association of the Deaf (1913-1917), and the Gallaudet College Alumni Association. Married to Petra Fandrem.
