Summary
Mistress of King George II, despite being married (a widow?); she lived in his court. He gave her the title of Countess of Suffolk. Alexander Pope wrote a poem, "On a Certain Lady at Court", about her; she is also referred to in a letter from Pope to Jonathan Swift (q.v.).
