Summary
Graduated Hamilton College (NY) in 1964; enlisted in the Navy, where he lost hearing in one ear due to artillery noise in 1968. Became a lawyer in the criminal justice system, eventually becoming deputy attorney general in the Delaware Department of Justice, then chief magistrate of the state Justice of the Peace system, then assistant public defender. Appointed as an associate judge in the Delaware Superior Court by the governor for a 12-year term. In 1994, he lost most hearing in his other ear from Meniere's disease, and deafness became total in December 1997. He continued serving as associate judge with the help of real-time captioning, an FM system, and a cochlear implant.
